The limited edition double-CD in deluxe digipak contains the bonus 9-tracks EP "Alice", which continues and ends a very popular story which began on the second album.
When Oliver Uckermann in the late 80ies started making music, he never had any plans about ever releasing any of his songs to the public. He was just looking for a means to put his musical and lyrical ideas into action. Finally, at the end of 1999 Stillste Stund was officially founded, a demo version of 'Ein Mensch, ein Ding, ein Traum' was finished and only a short time later the band signed with Alice In... / Dark Dimensions. By the way, the band's name Stillste Stund is old German and means 'Stillest Hour' or 'Calmest Hour' and traces back to a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche, in which he refers to his deepest and calmest (and at the same time his most terrible) moments as the 'Stillest Hour'... It was 3 years ago ('Blendwerk Antikunst') – that the project presented their fourth and their most successful album so far! It was quite rousing and much more dancable than all its precessors and included a few tracks in English. Stillste Stund are now presenting their new longplayer 'Von Rosen und Neurosen', containing 12 all new tracks – all sung in German. The band uses more acoustic instruments on the new CD, like double bass, cello, piano, accordeon etc. so that one gets the impression that chamber music mixes with electronical elements, sound textures and audio drama towards an atmosphere that is so very unique and special for this band. The new album also emphasizes deep lyrics and expressive voices. Fairy tale-like fantastic stories get mixed with cynical nihilism and not alone with 'Viktor' the band shows its bizarre black humour. Stillste Stund's music has often been described as versatile, complex and progressive with many breaks, but on the other side it also has a lot of catchy elements. Stylistically, it might be classified best as Dark Wave mixed to Electro-Gothic with industrial and neo-classical influences as well as chamber music. The music combines electronic and acoustic elements with dark, music score-like atmospherical sounds, supported by expressive male and female vocals. The mood often swings from one extreme to another, sometimes melancholy, sometimes brute, but always with a strong and intense impact.
